Prior to a lifting surgery, the breasts may cause affected women discomfort due to their positioning on the chest. Clothing may not fit well, and activities like exercise may prove uncomfortable. Many women also feel self-conscious about the appearance of their sagging breasts and may want to alter their position for their own aesthetic ideals. + HOW BREAST LIFT IS PERFORMED
Typically, women seeking breast lift have extra tissues that require surgical excision. The skin is often stretched out beyond natural repair, causing the appearance of drooping, deflated breasts. The surgeon may use one of several incisions (including those to create the Crescent Lift, Anchor Lift, Benelli Lift/Doughnut Lift/Circumareolar Lift, or Lollipop Lift) to rejuvenate the breasts by eliminating extra skin. The areola and nipple are surgically repositioned to an outward facing position (rather than downward), and the skin in sutured together, resulting in a tighter breast structure. Over time, the postsurgical shape of the breasts will continue to improve. The breast lift procedure is often combined with breast augmentation to restore volume to the breasts, enhancing their shape and size. The dual procedures first eliminate the extra skin of each breast, then restore artificial tissue to the breasts for a more voluptuous, youthful appearance. Both breast lift and breast augmentation can be performed alone, though the surgeon may recommend this combination based on individual patient needs.
+ BEYOND BREAST LIFT
The breasts can be repositioned in a standalone procedure, or alongside other cosmetic procedures for the greatest outcome. Often, saggy breasts may also suffer from volume loss that can be restored through breast augmentation. Breast lift patients may have undergone a breast procedure with another practice that did not provide satisfactory results, in which case breast revision may be necessary. Contouring procedures like liposuction can also create the best shape for a woman’s body, emphasizing her newly contoured chest. + CANDIDATES FOR BREAST LIFT SURGERY
Women who are interested in repositioning drooping breasts may benefit from a breast lift. Patients must be healthy enough to undergo surgery under general anesthesia, and understand the restrictions and risks for the procedure. In many cases, breast lift candidates seek to reduce the size of the breasts. Other patients may elect to undergo a combined breast lift and breast augmentation for their desired breast position and size.

+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PERFORM A BREAST LIFT?
Generally, the surgeon will schedule at least two hours to perform the procedure. If the breast lift is performed alongside a secondary surgery, like breast augmentation as described above, the surgeon may require three or more hours to complete the surgery.
+ WILL SURGERY REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE BREASTS?
The goal of the breast lift is to remove extra tissue and reposition the breasts so they sit higher on the chest and the nipples return to an outward-facing position. The breasts will be reduced in size but may be more visually appealing following the lift. Women who seek to maintain breast volume, or to increase breast size, can undergo breast augmentation during the same treatment time.
+ HOW LONG WILL THE RECOVERY PERIOD LAST?
Recuperation can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the surgical technique used, the patient’s health, and other factors, and will require a small surgical bra for a brief period. Patients can return to low-impact activities within the week after surgery but should wait an extra week or two to be more active.
